From Integration to Leadership: How Internationally Educated Nurses Build Strength Across the Team
Workforce strategy doesn’t end with recruitment. It’s defined by what happens next.
Grace Valle joined Sinai Hospital Medical Center with nearly two decades of nursing experience and a deep commitment to patient care. Today, she’s a preceptor, lead nurse, and active voice in professional governance. At The Experience Equation, a live LinkedIn conversation hosted by PRS Global on April 16, Grace will join CNO Amanda Shrout and Nurse Manager Megan Schwartz to explore what integration looks like through the eyes of an internationally educated nurse and how it contributes to lasting team strength.
Integration That Starts With Belonging
Before a shift is worked or a badge is issued, international nurses begin forming their view of an organization. At the webinar, Grace will share what it felt like to arrive at a hospital where preparation, leadership presence, and peer connection were already in motion. From early communication to leadership welcome, she’ll speak to how integration begins before day one and how those early actions shape confidence and connection for the journey ahead.
Orientation That Builds on Experience
For internationally educated nurses, orientation is not about relearning clinical skills. It’s about adapting to new systems and structures. Grace will speak to what thoughtful orientation looks like from the nurse’s perspective—how clarity, preceptor pairing, and leadership visibility created the space to grow into the role and eventually lead others through it. She’ll share what helped most and what other leaders should consider when designing programs for experienced nurses new to their system.
Retention That Feels Like a Choice
Grace came to Sinai on a three-year contract. She has decided to stay beyond it. What kept her wasn’t just a role, it was growth. In the webinar, she’ll share how clinical ladder pathways, governance participation, and everyday support contributed to her decision to stay and invest further in her team. Retention, she’ll argue, is less about programs and more about creating a culture where nurses feel seen, supported, and included in the future of the team.
